DiCentral Propels Small Business into the Majors with Scalable EDI

December 15, 2020

Deep South and DiCentral are now trading partners for HEB, a Texas-based food retailer. HEB tapped Deep South to put Aunt Cathy’s Fiesta Fry Mix™ on the shelves of 278 HEB stores. The challenge Deep South faced was how a small company utilizes Electronic Data Interface (EDI). One of the many requirements to work with HEB was for Deep South to employ a company to handle all transactions electronically.

“We evaluated several EDI companies, but they were too costly for selling a single product to a major retailer,” said Brian Winfrey, owner of Deep South. “DiCentral offers a ‘per transaction’ program that was perfect for us.”

The best part is there are no extra software or hardware requirements with DiCentral or the need to hire additional IT staff. Other EDI competitors typically charge for hardware, software, installation and training. All the transactions take place within DiCentral’s cloud EDI integration environment.

“This is our first year with HEB, and we don’t need the same solutions as a large enterprise,” Winfrey added. “DiCentral offered the most economical solution with room to grow. If we get more products into HEB and need more services, we can convert to a more comprehensive suite of solutions – that’s flexibility and scalability that we appreciate.”

DiCentral removed the barriers for Deep South to do business with HEB by getting everyone connected quickly and affordably. They provided personal service and solutions tailored to Deep South’s current needs.

“The deployment was seamless, and someone at DiCentral is always available to correspond with you immediately,” Winfrey said. “If we had to do all the invoicing and shipping ourselves, we’d have to be on our toes all the time. DiCentral saves us a lot of money.”

Partnering with DiCentral facilitates growth for Deep South. In the past, Deep South sold food products to smaller companies that did not require an EDI solution. Deep South is slated for a massive expansion, with many new food products on the horizon. As a result, DiCentral’s EDI integration will grow with the needs of their customer.

“I’m so pleased that DiCentral was able to help Deep South get Aunt Cathy’s Fiesta Fry Mix into one of the largest food retailers in the region,” remarked Thuy Mai, DiCentral CEO. “It’s exciting that our EDI integration platform has been part of their growth in the food business. We’re looking forward to handling more Deep South transactions for new products as they are introduced to the market.”
